A story accusing the mayor and the police department of violating citizens' First Amendment rights whose only source is non-specific hearsay from "two folks who are fairly well-known activists," wouldn't have cut it on my elementary school newspaper.

I'm a bit surprised there's been no comment here on the Daily News cover story today on how SugarHouse deals with people who signed anti-casino petitions.

On a related matter, a judge today threw out anti-casino petitions trying to get a measure on the May ballot that would allow a referendum on casino sites. Prediction: this is the first of many court battles the anti-casino forces will lose.
