Help Patrick Murphy WIN the DFA and Mark Warner Endorsement
Submitted by sem1480 on Wed, 06/07/2006 - 4:24pm.Many of you supported Patrick leading to his decisive win in the Democratic Primary in PA-08. You can help raise awareness about Pat's progressive campaign by voting him as the next Democracy for America endorsed candidate (Grassroots All Star) and as a Map Changer at Mark Warner's Forward America PAC. Patrick has been nominated, along with many other congressional candidates, who are running in Republican-held or open seats in November.
You can vote for Patrick Murphy as a DFA Grass Roots Allstar by visiting this link. The first round fo votign ends on Friday, June 16 at 5:00 pm Eastern Time, so go there and help Patrick out soon!!!
You can also vote for Patrick Murphy (PA-08) as a Map Changer at Mark Warner's Forward America PAC at this link.
PA-08: Fitzpatrick is Talent in Bush's Eyes
Submitted by sem1480 on Thu, 05/25/2006 - 2:52pm.As some of you may know, President Bush swooped into the Philadelphia area to do some quicky campaigning for Mike Fitzpatrick (the same guy that wants to shut down sites like YPP, MyDD and Kos) and Jim Gerlach to the tune of about $450,000.
During the fundraising event, President Bush stated:
I've been up here long enough to spot talent and Jim Gerlach and Mike Fitzpatrick are really talented congressmen.
President Bush is clearly an expert at evaluating talent. What with trading Sammy Sosa in his prime, picking incompetents like Michael Brown and Michael Chertoff to be incharge fo our homeland and disatser security, or sticking with horrible leaders like Rumsfeld and Cheney, I agree that Mike Fitzpatrick is the kind of talent that the President is used to picking.
What's more is Fitzpatrick seems to have forgotten about his statement in 2003 to the Allentown Morning Call that:
Why YOU need to care about PA-08 (Part 5 of 10)
Submitted by sem1480 on Thu, 04/20/2006 - 9:56am.Part 5: Who is Patrick Murphy?
This is the fifth segment of a ten part series about why you, and the netroots community as a whole, should be focused on the Eighth Congressional District of Pennsylvania. There has been a lot of discussion around the net about what makes a good “netroots” candidate – this is my case for Patrick Murphy in PA-08.
If you haven’t already, please check out the first four installments:
* A Democratic District in Republican Hands
* The Real, Right-Wing Mike Fitzpatrick
* Part 3: Republican Dirty Tricks in PA-08 Democratic Primary
* Part 4:Fitzpatrick: Bought the Very First Day
I am finally back with Part 5. Hmmmm I don't even know where to begin on an introduction to Patrick Murphy. There is so much to say, and so much has been written. I guess this quote from Larry Ceisler of PoliticsPA is as good as any a place to start:
What Else is Andy Warren Lying About?
Submitted by sem1480 on Wed, 04/12/2006 - 11:04am.Disclosure: I grew up in this district (Warminster, PA) and my parents and granmother still live there. I AM a supporter of Patrick Murphy and in my spare time and when I get to the district, I have volunteered to do work for his campaign. More than anything, I am looking for some way to affect change in this district even though I can't be a constant boot on the ground.
Former Republican Andrew Warren's scorched earth campaign for the Democratic nomination in PA-08 (remember this is the guy who used a convicted felon to try and kick the Democratically endorsed candidate off the ballot) hit a brick wall yesterday, as PoliticsPA caught the former Republican lying on the front page of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Part 3: Republican Dirty Tricks in PA-08 Democratic Primary
As regular readers of this series know, this entry in the ten part series was supposed to document Mike Fitzpatrick's numerous flip-flops in his first year in office. Unfortunately, the focus of the series needs to shift – just for a bit – to focus on the other Republican in the race: Andy Warren.

Part 1: A Democratic District in Republican Hands
As I am sure that you know well, Democrats need to pick up 15 seats in 2006 to take back the House. [As a point of reference, the Republicans had a net gain of 52 in 1994.] Ground zero in our effort to end this dark period of Republican corruption, abuse of power, incompetence, raiding of the federal treasury, plundering our environment, and harming our national security will be the Eighth Congressional District of Pennsylvania.
