Back to the future: things we have already talked about in reference to the Mayor and Council race

It is wonderful to have so many new posters and readers here at YPP. Like Dan, I have been light on posting myself lately (all Santorum, all the time). However, our little online community, while welcoming to newcomers, has already discussed many of the things that i saw brought up on today's post about Nutter. (Like taxes for instance...didn't anyone notice that Dan put up that chart on his post to show what a low a priority tax refrom is for most Philadelphians?) Now that doesn't mean these things are not worth discussing again, but to try to get us all on the same page, or at least in the same book, check out these posts from back in the day:

(and before you read these, let me also remind all newcomers that YPP was created as a place for young, progressive, Philadelphians to meet, talk, and organize for change. All else are welcome, but please remember this is a community and a site with a mission. We won’t tolerate being diverted by folks with other agendas...now, read on...)

apology

Sorry, I didn't realize everyone was supposed to agree on this website. Since I happen to disagree with somebody on at least on "agenda," I guess I'm going to have to stop posting.

A bit of unrequested advice before I leave: if you don't want a topic to be discussed, you might want to refrain from bringing it up.

the difference between me and "progessives"

from one of the "old school" posts :

It should be noted that Operation Clean Sweep, a statewide effort to oust every single incumbent in the State House, was founded by a well-known libertarian activist. Although he is usually only identified as an “activist” by newspapers, Russ Diamond has run for office multiple times on the Libertarian Party ticket. Although their liberal positions on social issues are what most people associate with that ideology, the fact is that libertarians are extremely right-wing when it comes to economic issues. Frankly, I don’t really give a damn about your position on gay marriage if you want to eliminate all public funding for schools, mass transit, roads and bridges, and social welfare programs. Their use of the pay raise as an issue is simply mechanism to portray all government as useless and hopelessly corrupt.

as a libertarian, i want things changed for the better (in my worldview) and if that means partnering with somewhere else in the political spectrum - so be it.

so if you want help to defeat santorum cause he's a theocrat, i'm with ya, pal. i'm not gonna say to hell with you because you don't meet my litmus test on tax cuts.

another difference

evidently...

progressives can spell "progressive"
