Building on the two previous posts about Democrats not taking on John Perzel and John Taylor, I just want to point this question out, from the new IssuesPA survey:
And which of the following outcomes would you most like to see for this year’s elections for THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE LEGISLATURE? Would you rather see…(CHOICES ROTATED) the Republicans keep control of the state legislature or the Democrats win enough seats to take over the state legislature?
The answer?
35%: Republicans Keep Control
53%: Democrats Take Over
That is worth remembering for a long time. We live in a State with more Democrats then Republicans, and where a clear majority of Pennsylvanians want Democrats in charge. Yet, because of tacits agreements not to go after a huge number of GOP incumbents, we are stuck with what we have. It is time for that to change.

I'm volunteering for...
Tim Kearney today. It's time to get rid of Perzel.
Looking Beyond Perzel
I am really glad that Tim Kearney is challenging Perzel. I don't think he has a great shot at winning, but it's important that Democrats in Pennsylvania go after every seat. It helps build the party for the long term and puts on a path for regaining the majority.
There seems to be no organized campaign to help Democrats take back the state house. The website of the PA House Democratic Campaign Committee hasn't been updated since August. Given the huge number of open seats this year (43!), it's amazing that the Pennsylvania Democratic Party isn't seriously talking about taking back the majority. As far as I know, there is aboslutely no outreach being done by the Pennsylvania Democratic Party to energize the base for this effort.
In fact, the only person that I know who has written about this issue is occasional YPP commenter Larry Ceisler. You can view his article here. I plan to write more about this issue in the next few weeks, but I think it's pretty amazing that the Democratic Party can be this short sighted.
