Congressman Patrick Murphy

I would like to introduce everyone to Congressman-elect Patrick Murphy:

In the end, this election came down to just a few votes. But whether there is a recount or not, Murphy will come out on top. And, while the election may have been close this time, expect Murphy to be much more comfortable in the future. The demographic trends are going our way. And, when the biggest knock on you is your inexperience, 2 years in Congress sound like a great antidote.

Congrats first to Patrick, and his great campaign team. But also a big congrats to the Philly for Changers, like Keith Campbell, bloggers like Psifighter, and sort of bloggers, like Adam B., who worked their ass off on the campaign for a long time. They believed, and they... won. Winning feels pretty good.

Victory!

I am so glad!!

Patrick is a great guy, and people worked really hard to bring him from long-shot to the finish line. I supported him early, and watched it all with amazed happiness. Congrats, Pat!!

one in a million

From the night I met Patrick months ago during the primary down in south philly, I knew he was different and that he would win. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him...and not because we're both Irish or lawyers or Widener Law alums.

His experience in Iraq will stay with him forever and it will dictate his votes and positions for years to come. His pro-choice, pro-LGBT positions and his pro-working people positions will be a benefit (to say the least) to this country. Most of all, he's a down-to-earth, regular guy who is starting a family and wants this city, state and country to be better than it is now...and is willing to make it happen by empowering the middle class.

Most of all, he wasn't afraid to embrace liberals and those of us who work on the "fringe" of the democratic party. And it paid off! The local philly dem leaders weren't so supportive in the end (thanks STACK!) but the democratic "outsiders" stuk with him...and I'm so gald we did.

Can you say governor Murphy? I can in about 8 years.

Also Kudos to other PJM staffers!!!!

Also I want to give props to some of my friends who worked on Patrick's campaign

(this was such an awesome campaign)

----

Pat's original Field Director, Anne Dicker (who left to, well, run for office herself)

Northeast Cowboy and Cowgirl Hal and Sue Rosenthal - roping in the votes

Steph O'Dell, an amazing operative who almost DIED for Patrick Murphy (along with Anne) - a smoke inhalation incident in their old office - ask them the story

And ... of course... Keith Campbell.
Aw yeah you know it Keith.
YOU KNOW IT!!!!
