Now for some Good News, Even Though Far Far Away

People do approve progressive taxes if they pay for services. Anybody listening?

Wow!
When I heard abut this vote coming up (ironically, while watching Fox News at the gym - who requests that a TV be turned to Fox News in a Mt. Airy gym?), I just assumed that the taxes wouldn't pass.
Oregon is one weird state, politically. Sure, there are a lot of progressives, but there are also a lot of libertarians and right-wingers. It will be interesting to see if anyone does any in-depth analysis of this vote
Apparently Oregon is not so different
This report and others I've seen indicate that to pass this tax increase "Oregon voters bucked decades of anti-tax and anti-Salem sentiment." So not one, but two right wing frames were actually defeated, i.e., taxes suck and cities suck. Not bad for a day's work.
Interestingly, the "pro-tax" side was better financed
Does the recent SCOTUS ruling affect campaign finance restrictions for this type of election?
We can also celebrate on how much tollerent we have become local
We don't have to only cheer Oregon, we can also celibrate some reacent changes locally, such as Sister Mary Scullian being appointed to the Independent Ethics Board
