Party Hacks at Philly Blog Going After Tony Payton
I don't know if any people on here read Philly Blog, but someone just posted the criminal dockets from 2002 when Tony Payton was arrested for drug posession, conspiracy, parphernalia, etc. The actual court documents are posted. I gather these charges were thrown out, but the person posting is questioning whether he still has a drug problem.
It's a pretty interesting read for anyone didn't see it. I guess we shouldn't repost those documents here, but I know a lot of people on this blog follow Payton:

This is absolutely
This is absolutely repulsive, and shows you how awful the Dan Savage/Marge Tartaglione machine is.
I get it/don't get it
Some folks at Phillyblog really have it in for this blog and our relationship with Tony. As many of you may know, Dan and I got to know each other in 2005 when i worked very part-time for Seth Williams and Dan used YPP (then in its infancy) to organize other local bloggers for Seth.
It was at that time that we both met Tony, and I think were both impressed with his intelligence and his passion for making progressive change. As I, at least, have watched Tony and gotten to know him better as a state rep, I have been impressed with how much he taken on and how much good he is trying to do.
Other than the fact that Tony has taken away patronage jobs from the Tartagliones, I still don't really what the criticism of him is. He has brought a lot of money into his district, has been pushing for good and important bills that benefit the district and he is an easy to access guy.
In the absence of any substantive criticism of Tony, true trash is emerging. It's sad.
PS- GoWest, your headline is incorrect no? There is no editorial voice at PhillyBlog that I know of, so shouldn't your headline be "Annonymous commenter at PhillyBlog?"
No, "Hacks" is right
The amazing thing is the willingness to go after charges that were dropped but their candidate, Guy Lewis, from what I have heard is unwilling to debate. I'd love to hear confirmation of that but that was the last I heard. I mean does it get worse? No discussion of issues at all, only this trash.

If you think Every politician is clean ........
If you think that every politician is clean ,I have some nice ocean front property in N. Phila I would love to sell you for dirt cheap. Listen , people didn't want Tony Jr. to get the job in the first place. So all this stuff doesn't surprise me one bit. I read the site and one comment says to not be naive, well if you think everyone in this world is clean? It's not about how you start, its how you finish that counts. This city loves Tony and he's not going anywhere no time soon. They tried to come up with ways to make him lose the race and it didn't work. It's time for new blood in office and what he was accused of doing isn't any worse than what people were already doing in office. No one has a squeaky clean record in politics. The only thing is that people haven't been caught yet or their position in office isn't a threat to anyone to bring out dirty laundry . I support Tony Payton Jr in all his efforts , I still believe people deserve a second chance .
Everyone should have a chance to redeem their lives or careers for the good. That goes for Tony , Vince , and anyone else you can bring out laundry on. This is the country of second chances , or at least thats what I thought ......

REPULSIVE X 2
People in this town are s hateful. I refuse to even read something like this. I don't understand why it's so impossible for people to believe in other people's ability to re-course their lives!! Why can't we just allow people learn from their mistakes and move on???????
We need to finally wake up as a society
Its a shame that we think as a society that we are better than others and we cant do any wrong in this world. You commit one wrong act and should be banished from the herd. We have heard so much from this presidential campaign and no one has thought twice (maybe some) about who your going to vote for in the primary election. So much mud slinging , its the nature of the business. We need to learn to forgive and forget in this country. The person that we need to get rid of (BUSH) hasn't even been persecuted for the crimes that he committed. Now how wrong is that
