SETH WILLIAMS BACK ON THE BALLOT

That didn't take long. Seth is back on the ballot, and Judge Tereshko's order is reversed.

Quick because Tereshko was ludicrously wrong

Welcome Back to the Dance Seth

haha nice Mr. Luigi, I always love me some Simpsons.

All humor aside, I am interested to read the court’s opinion because as ridiculous as the statute is I did not believe Judge Tereshko did an awful job with his opinion.

Anyhow, congratulations to Seth and his team for weathering this storm because when all is told and done, Seth Williams most certainly deserves to be on that ballot.

I would like to comment however on how this whole episode has showed us that old political tricks die hard.

Enter, Mr. Dan McCaffery, who by far has to be the most low down, moronic, conniving and ingenious candidate in this race. His undercutting initiatives (challenging Seth) along with his manipulation of political clout, manifesting in back-alley favors and promises to Unions (I still do not understand what the plumbers, electricians, etc. of Philadelphia have to do with the office of District Attorney), has compromised, diluted, and most of all insulted this election and the post that is granted to its victor.

I truly pray that now this mess has been resolved the focus of this race can move to the issues that truly matter (gun control, recidivism, over-charging, prison overcrowding, witness intimidation, etc.).

To further this point of things that matter, I have been to a handful of DA Forums held by numerous civic associations and had the opportunity to watch the DA Forum from the First Unitarian Church in its entirety on YouTube.

Am I the only person who is afraid that our next DA may be someone else than Brian Grady or Seth Williams. Counter me if you believe differently but, it seems that the other candidates truly do not have a handle on crime and the criminal justice system in this city. Also, I think its about time people on this site started to voice their own opinions on the pros and cons of these candidates, I believe a lively discussion from well informed individuals on this blog may lead to helping me make up my mind on who is the most qualified candidate.

Moreover, Dan U-A thanks for doing an excellent job on providing all of these posts and links, it is greatly appreciated however, I would like to see you post some stuff that does not specifically deal with Seth Williams. I understand that you are a strong advocate for Seth but, I would like to know about the underdogs just as much as the front runners. It is clear that candidates like McElhatton, Turner and Grady do not get the most press coverage but, I do not believe that should preclude them from having equality in the public's understanding of their records and policies. I'd just like to see more diversity here that’s all.

Overall, I am looking forward to seeing this race finish with integrity and passion from each candidate. It is imperative that we all keep in mind the city of Philadelphia when voting in this election, a city who has seen better days and a city that needs a new era of law enforcement to solve so many of the problems that plague its residents and families.

Seth Williams was the Inspector General

Seth Williams was the Inspector General under Mayor Street. HIs office was suppose to investigate municipal corruption. How well did he do that under Street? How did corruption go under Street? Not well. His office was part of the Environmental Task Force. How well did he do that? Well he let people get poisoned, terrorized and displaced because his buddies were involved and he really didn't care about how badly the adjacent neighbor to his friends project was getting hurt.

The Progressives in this town think they are politically correct but they will cover for each other and let people get hurt and destroy lives as they pretend they are good people.

The 14th district police under the influence of Seth Williams buddy Vernon Price allowed crime after crime committed against me because I was trying tell everybody that the land on East Mt Airy Neighbors project was contaminated and the demolition was cracking my house.

Instead of correcting the harm, Seth Williams ignored me, Vernon Price and Derek Green ( Seth's friends ) continued to allow ever increasing serious crimes to be committed against me. I've lost three years of my life and exposed to cancer causing agents. So ill I had to drop out of graduate school. My children have never been able to visit me because the politicians in this town are nothing but a bunch of criminals and bullies who like to beat up women.

A few days ago, I found out that the criminals that I CAUGHT and put away, had also stolen my neighbors car. I had to go out of the 14th district to get a detective to do the work because the 14th district was influenced by my Councils office to ignore me. A fact Seth never investigated or corrected. When all this comes out, will Seth prosecute his friends?

The lot of you have been abusing me for a very long time and yet everything I was trying to tell you and get help with turned out to be true. BUT NONE OF YOU WERE MAN ENOUGH TO HELP or do the right thing. YOU ALL PARTICIPATED IN HURTING ME.

Will Seth Williams and friends waste the everyone's money by being forced to go through an investigation on THEIR crimes and THEIR abuses of citizens during their time in office?

Will REAL ESTATEGATE distract Seth Wiiliams from his duties as DA?

The biggest criminals in this town are the ones in office and everybody , especially women and children are suffering for their crimes.

I got this note from Canada "That is what Philadelphia does to its citizens?? DAMN! I would be pissed at the local officials."

Oh yeah, then I find out the zoning attorney that was suppose to represent me gave a political contribution to Derek Green. That's a conflict of interest. Having Seth Williama investigate his friends for corruption was a conflict of interest too, I guess-- so he just didn't do it and allowed continued abuse toward citizen.

Seth Williams gets OUTRaged becasue a Judge took a little nip out of his finger , yet he looks the other way and ENCOURAGES Extensive harm and abuse to woman who is just living in her house trying to keep her life together like everybody else and he has zero outrage , remorse or ethics about that.

Another quote from another who had a similar experience elsewhere.
" How can any person watch others live in poisons such as this, that can slowly kill innocent people n the unborn. If this was to be happening near the Feds homes. You know something would have been done the day it was discovered. Not only is their health being damaged and their environment but also their education is being disturbed. How about trading places for a while and see how healthy their families stay?"

The relationship between breast cancer and environmental pollution is being increasingly realized. With one in eight women in the U.S. expected to develop breast cancer in their lifetimes - a dramatic increase - victims of breast cancer, environmental activists and independent medical experts are fighting back.

Will Seth Williams prosecute Environmnetal Crime that Kills just like Guns Kill?

Ignoring me is not going to help you. Ignoring me will make you look worse.

This Bill is going global and the story of the Philadelphia Political Corruption that inspired it
will go with it. Don't think I don't know who the one heckler that signed the petition is. He's close to Seth. Truth Hurts.

Margaret, I have given you

Margaret,

I have given you considerable more freedom than normal posters on YPP because I feel bad that it appears your house was screwed up. However, saying that someone "let people get poisoned, terrorized and displaced because his buddies were involved," or that someone "ENCOURAGES Extensive harm and abuse to woman" is very serious. It is a set of complaint and allegations that you are free to take to a Court of law. Your are not free to endlessly post them here.

We have let you make all kinds of allegations. Unless you have some new evidence, and plan to do something with that evidence, please stop. You are only hurting any sympathy anyone would have for your case. And, YPP is just not the place to endlessly accuse and threaten people you don't like.

Seth---Please answer the question--Do you agree with Bill Sasso?

I am glad that Mr. Williams is back on the ballot. However, the issue still is outstanding:

Seth must state very clearly in public his position regarding his current employer's (Stradley and Ronon---chairman, William Sasso)representation of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Mr. Sasso's statement that the Grand Jury Report and Investigation was "anti-Catholic"? Will Seth Williams be able to fairly and objectively evaluate and prosecute allegations of clergy abuse from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia should he be successful in his quest to become District Attorney of Philadelphia (in light of the fact that is currently "of counsel" at the firm which is primary counsel to the archdiocese)?

Do you agree with the Chairman of Stradley Ronon (William Sasso) that the Grand Jury Report and Investigation into clergy sexual abuse was "anti-Catholic"?

Odd reasoning

Funny that you do not think organized labor should contribute to the DA's campaign, but find it okay that numerous criminal defense lawyers contributed to Williams' campaign

Good

Now the voters can decide, that is of course, unless McCaffery appeals and the supreme court sides with Teresko..

Lets hope this election from here on out stays on the issues, and not this bullshit.

Dan, good job covering this and providing us with your recaps and images. Hopefully now the debate on this site can follow the same path that we all hope the campaign takes - the issues facing the next District Attorney of Philadelphia.

EDIT: Just read the article from the Inqy..looks like McCaffery isn't going to appeal. In that case, let the games begin..

Dunno the campaign's response

But I will give you my honest appraisal.

The IBEW gives a fair amount of money to Republicans in the suburbs where they are competitive to "have an ear" but also small but significant contributions here in the city just to be able to call on Republicans to float from time to time allegations and issues that they don't want associated with their own candidates but are against their candidate's Democratic opponents. Bochetto, McCaffery's lawyer, is a major local Republican activist and fundraiser and his law firm's web page celebrates a campaign "round table" it organized recently for Arlen Specter, for example. Also note the link to an article about the event from surprise, surpise The Bulletin.

Repbulican Councilman Jack Kelly, whose chief of staff was recently convicted of federal corrruption charges, barely eeked out an incredibly narrow vote race with David Oh in the last at-large council race. Bochetto again represented Kelly in the vote count challenge and senior IBEW PR folks worked on Kelly's campaign. The razor thin election advantage seems to have hinged on some questionable absentee ballots that in part IBEW partisans were responsible for collectng. Oh still has an outstanding legal case involving allegations of mishandeled absentee ballots. Bochetto again represented the IBEW when Dougherty was trying to overturn campaign contribution limits in the mayor's race on Tom Knox's behalf.

So there are established lines of communication between the IBEW, who are backing McCaffery, and various local Republican activists, most especially Bochetto. Bochetto and/or IBEW PR folks wanted to make a lot of noise about as that article cites a $300 Party Land reciept Seth Williams was remibursed for to generate any kind of bad press it possibly can and they turned to the local Republican rag to publish it. The Bulletin, always anxious to publish dirt no matter how tangential or iffy about the leading Democratic candidate, happily obliged and basically reprinted insignificant at worst vaguenesses ($300 here, $50 there out of more than $10,000 of very detailed reimbursement records) on a few receipts that had likely been sent to them directly from Bochetto's law firm. The Bulletin also, it should be noted, did not disclose that their sources were employed by an opposing candidate as would be standard for legitimate, quality journalism.

The Bulletin rather obviously does not have staff, nor energy to go through Williams reciepts in the detail cited in that piece so I suspect they are essentially reprinting an attack piece on McCaffery's behalf constructed by folks working in Bochetto's law firm - folks who no doubt were paid far better in legal fees going from the IBEW to Bochetto than any reporter working for any legitimately independent newspaper would ever pay any reporter by a factor of 8 or 10.

That is a very expensive piece of indirect negative campaign advertising posing as news reporting, have no doubt.

Seth Williams is the front runner

Seth's attackers have elevated him to the position of front runner. I find it incredulous that a vote should be based on a dinner expense or in this case a report that apparently Seth has little to do with. (I may be naive on this so educate me more than the post above did). Thus I am puzzled. We all know about the sexual atrocities committed by the clergy. Shouldn't any community welcome the cleansing of sexual predators from their midst? Wouldn't that be part of the DAs job?
Removing a valid criminal and protecting society is not anti-anything that I am aware of. Thus I am also surprised this race has become so brutal. can someone enlighten me, or is this just the only race in town and has all the media attention?
