Support the UNITE HERE! Workers of Hyatt Regency Philadelphia Penn's Landing in their Contract Negotiations!

The major industry in Philadelphia is the Service Industry. Hospitality and Tourism account for most of the money that comes into our city every year, and the workers in this sector deserve their fair share. The people in this industry work hard and take pride in giving our beloved Philadelphia a friendly and comfortable face to the visitors they serve and that we all depend on. These jobs are hard, especially in Hotel Housekeeping where studies show that worker's injuries are on par with Steel Workers.

Yesterday, in the opening day of negotiations, Hyatt has taken a hard line stance against its workers. They rejected a majority of our demands. When one of our shop stewards stated that businesses have a responsibility to their communities, including their employees, Hyatt counsel responded that business only has a responsibility to make a profit. The ramifications of such a statement are truly disgusting. Julie Coker, the Hyatt's General Manager, is disregarding her employees completely by not even attending the negotiations!

Hopefully she'll hear about it from you.

If you think Hyatt's stance is deplorable and if you think a General Manager should be present at the biggest conversation to directly affect her hotel's employees, please stop by anytime you can this week or next, and personally let her know you support the UNITE HERE! Workers. Go to the main elevators in the lobby, head to the 4th floor, into the executive offices and ask to speak with Julie Coker. If she treats you as she treats her workers, by refusing to speak with you, leave a note with her receptionist saying who you are, who you represent, and that you support union workers in Philadelphia.

Thank you for your support! UNITE HERE!
