Vacant Property Management
City Council Committee expands VPRC
Submitted by Councilman Goode on Mon, 10/26/2009 - 11:57am.Within two weeks of the City Controller’s release of an audit of the Neighborhood Transformation Initiative (NTI), there is legislative action on vacant property management reform.
Philadelphia City Council’s Public Property & Public Works Committee has approved Councilman W. Wilson Goode, Jr.’s New VPRC Bill, introduced last spring. The legislation will add Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) to the City’s Vacant Property Review Committee (VPRC).
LISC is a national organization with a community focus. The program staff is based in every city and many of the rural areas where LISC-supported community development takes shape. In collaboration with local community development groups, LISC staff help identify priorities and challenges, delivering the most appropriate support to meet local needs.
“LISC will bring new technical and financial capacity to our vacant property management reform efforts” Councilman Goode said.
