Writing It In
I voted for Joyce Eubanks too--absentee baby.
(For reasons I will explain later, I am actually in Covington, KY right now working with MoveOn.org on a gubernatorial election. Which means I had to absentee vote.)
The absentee ballot makes it really easy to write in votes. However, for those of you using machines tomorrow, write-ins are possible too, and I suggest you write in for the following offices:
* City Commissioners
* Sheriff
* Traffic Court Judges
There are obviously other chances to write in candidates, but these are the ones that stick out to me. Even though the incumbent Dems will win, every little chink we can make in the armor of vestigial and/or patronage offices is good.
On judicial retention, I found it hard to figure out which judges were Republicans and which were Dems. I say vote NO on all Republican statewide judicial candidates. They are:
Supreme Court of Pennsylvania
NO, Justice Thomas G. Saylor
Superior Court of Pennsylvania
NO, Judge Joan Orie Melvin
NO, Judge Correale F. Stevens
Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania
NO, Judge Bonnie B. Leadbetter
In addition to problems with Judge Theresa Deni, two other local, Municipal Court judges have not been recommended by the Bar Association. You should vote no on them as well:
NO, Judge Georganne V. Daher
NO, Judge Deborah S. Griffi
Polls open at 7 AM and close at 8 PM. Find your polling place here www.hallwatch.org

A Few More Good Write-In's
A few more I wanted to mention:
MAYOR: LARRY WEST
5th District: Ted Panczyszyn
Ted is running in the 5th as a Write-In against Darrel Clarke. Anyone who reads my blog knows my feelings on him. Ted is a good man, has a plan for the 5th, and needs everyone's support! But so do I! Go out and vote!
Lew Harris for City Commissioner
You don't have to go off ballot and piss off your poll workers to vote for a great City Commissioner candidate, the Green Party's Lewis Harris.
I've been active in the Green Party for a number of years, and am really sorry to be voting against them in the 8th, but this isn't the time to vote for protest candidate. Jesse Green it is.
I'll probably do David Oh and the minor party candidates for At-Large, too.
